Push to talk microphones are condenser mics with buttons on them that can be configured to: always be on; push and hold to talk; and push to turn on and off. These are good for conferences where there are so many microphones that if everyone left their mics on the sound would be terrible from all the chatter. Like when you have a conference call and nobody mutes their mics. Just like that.
